While Winter Wonderland opened the festive season and allover London Christmas Lights are shining down on me, mulled wine, chocolates and gingerbread were talking:
“It’s Christmas time, I’m feeling lazy and YOU!”
YES! I’m feeling lazy and a bit of winter depression coming up, but I got the ideal recipe for it. Around that time of year we fancy comfort food and on the same time feeling bad about having it (the calories). If you stay active during the winter period, you can manage your happiness by eating your pie and Gingerbread Latte with cream by simply exercising it off. It’s all about calories intake vs. calories out. But that’s nothing new to you right?
So let’s talk about this young team that was able to motivate me and many others around the globe.
The concept is as simple as the name ADVENTRUNNING. You should aim to run for minimum of 30 min a day for 25 days until Christmas. #25in25
That sounds a lot and it is definitely challenging. This was so motivating for me that I just ran another 10k with these guys last weekend. This idea is brilliant and you see on their Facebook group pictures form around the world. Beautiful landscape, new trainers or swollen ankles, you name it! Fun and motivating for people like you and me to become more active than they normally are.
The whole concept was founded by Claudia and James who are not only running experts, Marathon, Ultra Runners, they are also Triathlon Coaches.
Here is my report about:
Day 6: Adventrunning in cooperation with Adidas Eyewear
Date: 06.12.15
Location: East London
Challenge: 10k along the canal
Meet and greet with the organiser and lovely advent runners. Cool glasses! Selfie time…
The event was in cooperation with Adidas Eyewear. We all were chatting and testing the new, light and colourful glasses.
In east London we ran along the canal. With a few stops to gather together we also had a quick intro from James about the artist “Sweet Tooth” who can be seen all over London.
Another highlight was the Santa run in Victoria Park. Later that day I felt so christmasy that I had to make mulled wine for my friends. Mmmh. Nikolaus Day!
Our group had mixed running levels and we stopped a few times to get everyone together again. The famous artist above is called “Stik”, showing his tallest artwork.
So much fun we had. I’m glad I came and got another 10k done. Happy! We finished in the same pub and had lunch together. Well deserved. That day was very windy and I found the Adidas glasses super practical to protect my eyes. Looking forward to use my new pair when the sun is out.
Keep on running and join the fun! It’s never too late …
